I started using tropic marine bio calcium 8 weeks ago in my 75 gallon sps tank. I also dose kalk 1 teaspoon per gallon, for top off water. I took calcium and alk readings every 3 days since starting. Before tropic marine my alk was 3.5ml and calcium was 380 -400. I am using seachem calcium and alk test kit.
Problem is my alk has been continue to raise from 3.5 to 6-7 meg per liter. and calcium has been stable between 360-380. My PH has now been stable since adding the bio calcium i dont know why? 8.01 at night and 8.2 during the day. The box says it contains all 70 trace elements maybe it is messing up the balance....I beleive I have lost a orange plate coral due to the high alk, it was doing great for a year or so.. I add 3 scoops of the bio calcium a day and have not added any alk due to its already high reading. It has been 8 weeks with out a alk additive and today it reads at 5.5 meg per liter.. I use to add 2 teaspoons of kalk but my posidon pump failed to start due to the 1/4" crust of calicum build up. please lend me your help....ty derick
