I have 29 gallon refugium with chaetomorpha and grape caulerpea. The Caulerpa seems to be taking over my fuge and strangling the chaeto. Can remove all of the macro algae and replace it with just chaeto? Will I have any kind of problem in my tank by doing this? Thanks in advance for any help.

I would slowly (over the course of a few weeks) thin out the Caulerpa until it is totally gone from the refugium. This way you avoid any sudden spike in extra nutrients in the system that the Caulerpa was previously using up on a daily basis. Should allow time for the Chaetomorpha to takeover as the sole nutrient exporter.

Alternatively, just keep the Caulerpa thinned down. Though I would suggest staying with an all Chaetomorpha fuge.
