I can't seem to get a response what is happening in my tank. My CBB disappeared totally and never to be found again earlier this week. Yesterday my powder brown died, he was perfect condition too and then developed HLLE I think with some ich. I got him out minutes after he hit the sand. I checked the water, the ammonia was 8.0, then I checked it later and it was 2.0, then it went back to 4.0 and did a 5 gallon water change and then it was 1.0. Yesterday night and today it is 2.0? I use the saltwater master test kit (liquid drops), do you think the test kit is wrong? Would my other fish not be living anymore?

Also, what would be a good tang to get along with the yellow besides the regular koles/tominis/blues?

Thanks.

t5Nitro,

Thank you for contacting us with your questions. We recommend when you have a loss in your aquarium you want to perform a 15% water change to help rid the aquarium of ammonia. After changing the water let it cycle through for an hour before you test it again, otherwise the water change will affect your results. That is a possibility why you are getting such swings in your levels.

You can add a Tang that does not have the same body shape as your Yellow Tang, such as the Bristletooth, Naso, or Powder Blue.

We hope this information helps. If you have any further questions please contact us at 1-800-334-3699.

Would a sohal be a definate no? I may think about the naso, I just don't know what the yellow tang will do with a real peaceful fish.

t5Nitro,

Thank you for contacting us with your question. We recommend the Sohal Tang be kept in at least a 180-gallon aquarium as they can reach 1’4”. Sohal Tangs are very aggressive. They should not be kept with other Tangs.

While these are a beautiful fish if they are put in the wrong aquarium they can be quite destructive.

We hope you find this information beneficial. If you have any further questions please contact us at 1-800-334-3699.
