this was on a rock that came with a setup i bought. when the lights are out it looks like a red patch on the rock and with the lights on it looks like the picture.

Possibly daisy polyps or some type of Xenia family member...

What is the base like? A mat or seperate individual polyps?

Could even be encrusting Gorgonian or a type of Star Polyp.

xenia family, likes flow. I am trying to get mine to grow on back wall of tank.

I don´t think, that´s a xenia.
My guess is a Stolonifera.
