Need ID on a worm

Saw this worm coming out, and then "eating" with this mouth thing you can see in the photo.

An ID would be amazing, it is atleast 2", maybe more, so I am a little worried it is bad.

Looks like the feeding proboscis of a Sipunculida worm (aka peanut worm) mopping up detritus / left over food particles. Harmless critter.

Why would you want it to die? You should, in my opinion of course, encourage such life in your aquarium.

Ok I think I have one of these too but fairly larger then the one in discussion above. This is about 8mm thick in diameter :eek1: Are we sure it is safe for corals etc? It did have a feather duster very close to where it was feeding and it has not been harmed.

Peanut worms are harmless, I've got two or three big ones in my tank, never caused any damage but they do a good job cleaning!

yep I have a few peanut worms in my nano tank as well there great! Harmless
