As there are no axials visible and you believe it is not a Montipora, then we are left with Anacropora. Check-out An. forbesi on the AIMS site. of course, a shot with closed polyps would certainly help.
My guess for that piece is acropora abrolhosensis. I have two varieties of it and they are both different than each other but are for sure the same species. The tips on yours are quite different again, as all the abrol's Ive seen have smooth colored tips that are a different color from the main body but the general polyp structure and growth pattern is very similar. To help confirm can you take a picture of it with the polyps retracted so we can view the coralite structures?

I have heard of these, but have never seen one. It's been growing like a weed for around 9 months now and I didn't have a clue what it was.
