Would anyone know what I could put under my 2 tanks when I move them this weekend. I would like a rubber or plastic mat with a lip on it. We have brand new carpet and would love to keep it that way. Any suggestion on where to go to find such a piece of plastic or rubber. I know I could put a mat down but I would like it to have a small lip on it
Thank You WAYNE

Yeah I thought of that but their flat . I would like somthing thats like a huge cookie sheet. somthing that will hold a bit of spillage

ok...

Get a sheet of wood and place tile on it. Make a lip around the edge. Works well. I have seen that a couple of times.

A raised tile rim in the floor sounds like some toe stubbin fun to me. It will work but oh how good those stubbed toes do feal. I would look more in the direction of maybe lining the inside bottom of the stand with a heavy gauge plastic before i would put anything raised out around the stand. Even a 1/4 inch can catch a toe.

It would be ugly but.... one of those plastic "tubs" that fit in the back of an SUV. You can get a square with raised plastic. Don't know the size, whatever vehicle you choose I suppose. I think the edges are raised around an inch or 2.

You can purchase a pond liner - Cut it to fit the inside of your stand - that way you don't have to see it on the outside of the stand. Attach it with construction adhesive. I had a customer do this because the sump could not hold enough water [power outage and you know what happens next]. He brought it up about 18" inside the stand. You could always have the inside of your stand sprayed with a spray-in type bed liner used for trucks.

I think Wayne is concerned about more than under the stand. SOund like he is bothered about the front area as well.

Wayne,

I have been thinking about the same thing. I think the best thing to use is a metal pan with a lip. Have it made from galvanized metal and make the lip what ever height you think is best. You can use any type of waterproof glue or sealant for the corner seams. There are any number of sheet metal or A?C duct making companies to make it for you and it would be reasonable.

Target sells a rubber mat in several different sizes. They are meant to go outside, but i have one under my 115 gallon fish only. the mats are rubber on bottom and have some carpeting type material on top and they do hold some spillage. When I move out of my apartment I will get another mat like it to put under my 120. the carpet top holds some spillage and the rubber bottom is almost impermeable which helps with salt creep. the mats are also easy to clean and keep clean.

You can actually purchase large cutting boards... we use them at our sign shop on 4 x 6 foot tables. I'm pretty sure they're gonna run over a hundred for one that's about a 1/4 inch thick and they cost more the thicker you go.
