Need Ideas - Plumbing my 240g

I need some ideas on how to plumb up my tank. I am going to be running all my tank equipment in my garage. I will be punching a hole or two through the wall its on. On the other side is the garage.

Im not sure if I should use a typical sump, or two 50g rubbermaid stock tanks. And if I do use the stock tanks, how to plump them up to make it work.

Any ideas?

It's in my basement, not the garage, but I think you can see the point. These are 2-70gal Rubbermaid plumbed as a refugium and a sump.

That was my initial idea as well. Except I would have the bottom one more under neath the top one. What my buddy brought up was micro bubbles. Do you have any issues with that?

I believe that a filter sock on your return may help with micro bubbles. Also use a "y" tube on your drain. This will stop possible cavitation and will help reduce micro bubbles.

I do not have any microbubbles issues. I agree that if you did, a filter sock would solve the problem.

Excuse my ignorance but can you explain this a bit more? o)

Let me see if I understand. My drain will drain into the first rubbermiad. You want me to use a Y fitting on the bulkhead to stop the water from agitating? Did I get that right? haha

Your drain goes into one side of the "y" pipe and the other side of the "y" is open to allow air to vent into the drain. Thia will help to control turbulance, cavatation, and micro bubbles

This might be a stupid question, but, aren't you worried about the garage heatin' up in the summer time and cookin' your water? I assume that you a going to use a powerful chiller, right?

hansnfrans - Not to worried about that. I live in a duplex and my garage is covered by 3 walls. No sun gets to it. The only door that touches the outside air is my actual garage door. And the sun never shines on it.

It stays about 75* in there so far. Im monitoring it still though.
