Need LFS recommendation

Hi everyone,

Just about to leave from Madison to head down to Chicago area for some business. Would love to visit some nice places for fish and corals. Ideally would like to get some nice wrasse or anthias and a couple corals for my 180. Any recommendations are very much appreciated as beyond this I'll be googling and using the sticky.

Mainly looking for changes from the sticky if any, looking for quality and variety over cost.

Thinking reefwise and aquapro, any other must visits?

Reefwise and Aquapros are both good places to go. Reefs Plus in North Aurora is pretty nice and is not too far off the expressway in the same general area.

If you are ever out this way, go to Good Water Aquatics in Kenosha, he has some serious high end coral there and super cheap.

If you're interested in high end/rare fish you can't beat Old Town Aquarium.

Just saw several Anthia's at Sho Tank in Mundelein

I beeive that Beyond the Reef in Schaumburg has a vast selection in fish/dry goods and I know they have schools of Anthias. I like Aquapros as well.

I ended up visiting Coral Reef which seemed about on par with the average run of the mil LFS we have around here.

Visited Old Towne Aquarium and was very satisfied. Brought home 4 Bartlett's Anthias and a Lineatus. All acclimated and quarantined, doing well so far.

I really enjoyed old towne and will likely visit again. Hopefully next time I will have a bit more time to explore.

Coral Reef is on the way low end of LFS in Chicagoland. Glad you enjoyed Old Town, it's definitely one of the nicest shops in the country!

The worst part for me is that coral reef is probably on par if not better than the top options here.

I'll definitely have to visit again, north and wells to my driveway was exactly 2 hours so not a bad weekend day trip at all. Were a lot of places I wish I could have checked out but after stopping by Old Towne wanted to get the new guys back to my QT and it was after 7:30 by that point anyhow.

I'll be sure to check out Sho Tank and Best Fish in Milwaukee soon as well, I make it out that way every few weeks.

Beyond the Reef in Schaumburg has a small dry goods section imo. they have more live goods in fish, coral and inverts. i can't blame them as most including myself buy most dry goods online these days.

their live goods selection is above average to very good imo and the prices are reasonable
