Need more flow, low on the dough...whats the best way to go. MJMods

Alright, so I want to add a good amount of flow to my tank. Right now I have about 25x - 30x, but this is not enough to keep my BB clean.

Originally I wanted to buy a Vortech to add the extra 3000gph, but I cannot justify the expense (you married guys understand the power of 2x)The other real option was to upgrade my CL pump, but once again I still cannot justify it.

So even though I absolutely hate seeing power heads in my tank I think I am going to have to break down and run one of the MJ mods on my tank for now. From everyones experience which one do you think is better, the Eco Systems or the SureFlow. Also, once you added one these, did you find that you had to upgrade to a different bracket?

Any other suggestions?

BTW, I plan on pointing this straight down to the bottom of my tank. If that does not work, then I will angle it down to create a whirlpool affect at the bottom.

I have seen the sure flo kits in action. They look nice and don't make any weird noises from what I can tell. Good bang for the buck. Friend of mine has 3 of them running no problem.

I saw a vortech for sale in the selling forums for 330 shipped I think. That is not a bad price considering the brand new price.

Vortechs are great. I love them! LOL. I used to have MJ mods DIY kits back when. They were noisey and vibrated alot. Couldn't stand them really, but they made a bunch of flow though. The new plug and play kits are much nicer. As fo the vortech though you get the controllablilty, plus the various wave programs and the sync modes when running multiples.

The 3 I have, have been running great. I had to send 1 for service but it was done free of charge and was sent back for free.
Great customer service from the Icecap guys as usual.

I have the Algae free mods and I am very happy with them so far, I just added 2 more. to increase surface movement and I couldn't be happier.
You really can't beat the ratio of cost vs GPH, they are really a no brainer.

That settles it, too many Algae Free supportes...

Did you use guys use the magnet mount, or did you guys use the standard MJ mount with their swivel setup?

I am using their brand magnets, I am not sure if you can use the OEM MJ brackets since the mods change the direction of the flow in this pumps.

eco mods RUST i use one at work and have to hit the thing to start it due to part of the shaft being rusted
