Need reassurance on IO for SPS

He marine mix produces a synthetic low alk salt. Might be more what your looking for. Me I have corals eating my alk. So when my tank of 350g is at 8 and I do a 40g change only bumps a bit. Not a huge swing.

I stopped using HW Reefer because I mix into cold water and got ridiculous amounts of precipitation when storing for my auto water change. It would literally cake my dosing tubing with white sludge to where I had to run vinegar through it to unclog. Tons of particles and film at the top of the water too.

I heard you are supposed to mix it into preheated water which is the opposite of all other salt mixes. Bizarre that there are no official mixing instructions anywhere. Since I have no need to heat water for my slow water changes, it's a step I don't want to have to worry about.

Thanks for your help everyone.

Since I do automatic water changes of 1.7 gallons per day, I decided to take the difference in alk and calcium between the Neomarine salt I used to use and the IO and find the net effect change for only the 15 gallons in my reservoir (Bertoni gave me that equation a long time ago) put that into the BRS calculator online, and divide the dose amount by 7 (7 days, 15 gallon AWC) and adjust my 2 part accordingly. It only ends up being a few ML per day difference in alk and calcium dosing.

Wow that was a long sentence.
