Need replacement for vertex alpha cone 200 red dragon 1500 pump

Hi, my red dragon 1500 skimmer pump is on its way out, likely needing a replacement impeller. Vertex aquastik the maker in Germany no longer makes this model nor impeller. Their only suggestion is to buy a new $800 skimmer pump which I think is a bit outrageous. Does anyone have suggestions on a replacement skimmer pump or know anyone who would happen to have a source for a replacement impeller? Many thanks!

Even if you bought a Laguna 1500 you would still need an impeller for a skimmer unless you convert the skimmer to a venturi like a Mazzei

I love Laguna pumps, great pump for a reasonable price
 
You may want to try to contact Royal Exclusiv directly as they used to manufacturer the Vertex skimmers for Vertex. I would also suggest contacting Premium Aquatics and they can contact Klaus the owner of Royal Exclusiv. I think I read somewhere that he can still supply replacement parts for the Vertex line of skimmers.
 
You can modify the volute of your original pump to Laguna 1500 and also mode the impeller to mesh wheel impeller and the result will be even better the original pump. The Laguna 1500 with mesh mode will perform twice better then the original pump.

You also can get Waveline DC10000-II from Salt Supply with pinwheel and match the pump to the skimmer body this pump also great for your skimmer size . (I also got this pump if you want the measurement I can send you..)

The Laguna will cost less .

Wow, excellent ideas! Can you send me dimensions of the waveline dc pump? I did contact vertex and they no longer manufacturer the impeller and recommended that I buy a red dragon 3 pump for $800 - way too steep for me! Many thanks to all!
 
Here you got all dimensions that you need . The pump connect to the skimmer body with the Vinyl Tube as you have right now.
If will decide to buy this pump I recommend to get it from Salty Supply since they got almost everything from RLSS in stock also service is topnotch and you will never regret from my experience ....

The pump come as a return pump and you can buy Pinwheel Impeller and the Gray intake. It's a DC pump that you can play and adjust the way you want..

Sorry but I sent the pm to sdreefer2000 as he was the one originally looking for an impeller. I should have specified that. If you want the link I can send it to you as well. It's for a new needle wheel impeller for an askoll 1500 motor block. Same motor block used for the older red dragon 1500 pump. I myself have an alpha 200 and bought a Laguna max flo 1500 pump as a backup.

You can buy a replacement pump from Vertex. Same as the Red Dragon but branded by Vertex themselves. It should be plug and play. And much cheaper than the Royal Exclusiv version.
