Need replacement pump for EuroReef CS5-2

My Euroreef CS5-2 pump just went out as well.... I guess they just "burn-out" after several years?

I can't find anyone online who deals in the pump only, which seems to be custom made for Euro-reef only?

Questions:

1) where can I get a replacement?

2) if it's not the original pump sold by the mfg., is there an alternative that works equally as well? (I'm a bit skeptical about this approach, but if the original pump is no longer available, doesn't appear as though I have a choice on the matter)

3) Has protein skimmer technology improved enough that I should consider bailing on my old Euro Reef CS5-2 and buy a newer, better model?

I have no allegiance to EuroReef, other than the fact that the CS5-2 did a great job and "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" ... but it's done broked, so now what!!!

I bought a skimmer from someone here, in the buy amd sell area... and it didn't come with a pump. I didn't know any better...
I think it was actually a CS 5-2 as well... but I am not 100% sure.

Anyway, I found a guy on Ebay that was selling the Sedra 3500 WITH the needlewheel thingy, and with or without the venturi/elbow. It wasn't expensive.. I think the total was around a hundred bucks.

Just placed my order from Euro Reef's online store that was suggested!

Thx!

i'd rather pay a little more for the mfg recommended version!

no need to upgrade if it works!

do the mesh mod, and a gate valve mod on your ER...my 5-3 probably doubled the production of the darkest stuff ever with the mesh, and the gate gives you much better level control

I'm looking to replace my 3500 on my CS6-1. I was looking into the Sedra 5000 and was planning on getting a regular 5000 pump and doing the mesh mod, so no need to buy the expensive needle-wheel just to destroy it.

Since I already have the 3500, I was hoping the volute and venturi would also work on the 5000. Does anyone know?

no it will not work. The 3500 is smaller.
