need sand for cheato?

Never really used a fuge before with macroalge, usually just ls & lr. Does the cheato need anything to cling to or does it just float and grow on it's own? How much extra nutrient removal can I expect from using it?

It just floats has no roots to attach to soil it takes time for the nutrient removal (nitrate)

Mine went from a baseball size to basketball size in less than 6 months. I have a 1" sand bottom in my fuge and it will settle itself along a wall and become stationary fairly quick. I havent tested my nitrates in some time but when I did it was always 1 or under. When it gets larger its always good to pull/stretch the ball a bit to encourage growth. Im sure theres someone in your local club that can always use some in trade etc..
