Hello so I'm starting a fluval 5 gallon tank for my younger brother.
The tank has been up with water now for quite a bit with 2 pounds of rock.
Question now should I use sand or bare bottom and how much of it I was think maybe 2 pounds then 5 pound of rock.

And finally I what a heater that would fit in the back what would u guys recommend ?

Im currently looking into maybe a better light but need to call and ask about the
Aqualighter nano Marine.

Thanks hope to get some good advice will take any if you have some good ones to improve this build ! :D

i'm running sand in my spec V. as far as weight for rock and sand goes i didnt weight it. i just put the sand in till about 1" deep and put 3 pieces of rock to get the look i wanted. i'm using an aquaeon 50W heater and have in in the overflow chamber. i'm currently using a wavepointe 16W led light but am planning on switching to either a DIY full spectrum or a buildmyled 12" light. the best thing i did for the tank was the ato. allowed me to keep the heater hidden in the back without water changes causing issues with the heater.

I would run a 1 1/2" sand bed if not 2" with 5lbs of live rock. The key with a nano reef tank is to be very picky about the love rock you want. Dont just grab a big chunk and toss it in. Sometimes I take a hammer to the live rock to get the shapes I want. For a heater I really love aquatop digi heaters. Never had a problem yet. You should really look at the fluval nano lighting great specs. Good luck

Ill look into it I got some dry tonga rock nice shape.
Take a look into the heater .

Did you guys modify media chamber ? And if so what would u recommend doing

Made costom media tray pictures will come later when I pull out for cleaning I have one picture partly done. Running phosban, chemipure, puregen, sponge, Filter floss,

Have a hydor pico coming
And 445nm/magenta stunner

Added some diffrent kind of cleaners from reef cleaners,
One scarlet hermit and pompom crab

He's very very small ! But I got him to eat cyclopeaze
Only issue I'm having in mind is growing coral :( hope fully it will be plenty since I have other stuff to buy for the big tank this for my younger brother I set it up for him.

Well as you see the shaped the tonga rock took quite a bit of super glue but glued all the rock as in the picture above haha I should have named this thread as my build also :)

Just the new light and size comparison of the clown lol

Got a Catalina Goby.
Was told by my LFS that this one was an off spring from a warm reef system.
