need some advice

Hi gang,
I haven't been around for a while. I'm looking at my tank and I haven't really done anything with it at all. Everything is healthy, but I don't know, my heart isn't in it. I am toying with the idea of taking it down and selling it off, just the 38g salt tank that is. I'd like to get some of my money out of it...
what do you think?

If you sell it, you will be back in a year.

I sold everything when I moved back to Wisconsin from NJ. I set up a fresh tank. Well, about a year later my wife said - I sure miss the reef and bango, I now have 2 saltwater tanks......

Summer is always a slow time for reefing. There is just too much going on, & not enough time to do it (short summer, long winter). Come later this fall, you'll be back at the lfs.

yeah, maybe you're right. It's not that I don't like it, I do, maybe I'll just clean it and sit back. I'm really into my flower gardening right now, and I get kind of a one track mind when it comes to my interests; I throw myself into the one I'm doing and the rest go to the back burner.

Do you still have seahorses? Maybe get some other fish thats less time demanding, something that doesn't require live food or daily feedings.
Maybe like a lawnmower blenny, he will just eat algae and not require much feeding at all.

I do the same, some times all my time goes for my reef and sometimes i almost forget about it but I would NEVER give it up.

I am like you, I get really intensly into something and then I am done. I went on a rose obsession once and bought 30 bushes and joined the rose club. I still like roses but I stopped, then there was photography, crochet, writing a novel, etc. My husband made me keep a small reef tank for a year so he could be sure I would stay interested before he let me get the 210 gal. I also go through varying phases of interest in the tank but I always do routine maint. Summer is always the low time because there are other things to do and winter is always the time when I really start adding critters and fragging corals. Right now I am on a fishing kick and I have been fishing like crazy. The horses and the salt tank are so far the only 'obsessions' that have stood the test of time.

Ive had my reef for over 20 years and theres been plenty of times I don't pay attn. and have other things to do but I always go back to it eventually and am glad I never tore it down.

Thanks for the replies! I'm going to clean it all up today, darn grape calerpa (sp?)...
I don't feed the horses every day, heck sometimes they go 4 days! I ordered a few bags of live mysid and pods, and now they are crawling all over the tank. I struggled to get the horses to eat frozen mysid but they flat out refused, so I just provided them the live food that they wanted and they're doing great! So basically I feed the 3 little fishies about every third day and that's it. I'd still love to get a dwarf lion someday... that won't be until all of these critters are gone tho, or he'll take care of that! lol!

That would be a great reason for a reef meeting. Lion eats horses :mixed:
