Need some constructive criticism.

tank looks amazing, I hoping to upgrade my 75 to a 125 or bigger soon and I can only pray that I have the similar success as you've had.

looking good. IME water changes are the most important thing. The way my tank runs is water changes will keep params in check for 2-3 months, then I need to dose for like a week to get everything back on track for WC's. THis system has worked great for me. Unless you are running a really SPS heavy tank you should be fine without dosing as long as you keep on top of your water changes.

Looks badass.
You're going minimalist? Good for you!!!!!
I LOVE Kole tangs!!! When my Scopas goes, THAT'S what I'm going to get to replace him.
Love your Acroporas. Wish I could grow those.
Get some PRODIBIO BIOCLEAN ampules to keep your bacterial load healthy. Rowa Phos in a reactor will definitely keep the cyano and other nuisance algae at bay.

There you go.
Just took this shot.

I also installed a maxspect gyre xf 250. The thing is amazing. It replace for power head i had. Two hydro 2450 gen 3 and two 600gph pumps. At 100% the gyre effect blows sand all over the place. Great movement.

This is the sump in the basement.

Question is, is it normal to have a sump looking like this? Is there anyway to prevent the slime from forming. I have no great issue with it as long as it stays in the sump but I did not know if this is forming because of some other issue.

This is the gyre at 80%
Keeping the 2 hydor for night use

And sorry this has kind of turned into a build thread. If mods feel it's appropriate to move please do so.

Update. My 250 gyre was getting very loud. I took it out to clean it and discover one of the end bushing was worn out.

I was pretty ****ed when this happened. It's been over 4 months since installed. But upon research they say to give maintenance every month for maximum life. The bushing cost about 3 bucks each.
I'll give maintenance every month from now on and see how long this things last.

I'll still buy a gyre today if I could do it again but hopefully this will help people know about the monthly maintenance I didn't know about.

HI all.
This is my tank. I love sitting and looking at the tank for hours at night after work. It just relaxes me and I can see all the work I have done.

It has been up since January 21. I had some red algea here and there it was because I was over feeding reef roids a bit. But it has cleared up now. The green algea have seem to clear up as well.

Everything was done by me from knowledge gathered online. Drilled a overflow. Two return pumps. Sump in the basement. Had stock florecent light. Then given PC lights, they did not cover the whole width of the tank that I'd why there is only green in the center
I recently got leds because wife wanted the neon she see's at the fish stores from the corals. I do 20percent water have every two weeks.
.

I plan on getting 2 clown fish, a purple tang, a fox face, hippo tang, kole and some fire and a sandshifting goby.
This is a 125g tank and all fish will be entering the tank a month or month from each other beacuse of quarantine.
I am really scared of ich and velvet.

I found this in a coral dip I did.
Can some one ID this thing.

Looks like your standard bristle worm to me. Some people like them, some don't. I have never worried about them and they are free members of the CUC.

Yeah. At this time there is a ton of them in the tank. They don't seem to bother anything so I don't worry about them.

Nothing major to report. Everything seems to be going great. I am getting good coral growth. I have nothing to compare it to since this is my first reef tank. I am only dosing Mrs wage pickle lime like Sk8r recommended on my top off water.
Thanks Sk8r.

Ill just post before and after pictures.

I have had this hammer a little over 6 month now. When I bought it it was 3 heads at most.

I am thinking about buying ATO and dosing pump.

Any questions or advice please feel free.

i notice your MG reading 1560. is it with the red sea magnesium pro test kit?

the RS magnesium test is a little different, as you want to stop at the blue color the FIRST time you hit it.

you can check out their video, at the 4:35 mark.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MofaqM-I6uM

the blue color goes back to purple if you wait too long, which was a mistake i made when i first used the RS magnesium test kit, so i added too much titrant and ended up with higher MG readings than i really had.

Thanks mate. I watched a lot of videos when I was looking for info on how the test kit worked. I'll keep this in mind next time I test again.
Ill post results on parameters too see if dosing kalkwasser only have been enough. I dropped my water changes from biweekly to monthly 30g changes as well.

Need a full view of your sump area but if you're still looking for a simple ATO I'm very happy with the peristaltic pump and level monitor from Avast. The level monitor is a pressure tube. Peristaltic is definitely the way to go if you are considering adding lime to the ATO. I use 2.5 TSP and 45 ml vinegar per gallon in a little plastic container I got from the hardware store.

@gonioporagirl
Yeah all corals look happy expect my LA Lakers zoas. They seem to not open all the way even tho they are low in the tank.
I have some wild goniapora that isn't looking to good either.

@frontman
I'll post a full sump pic. I googled avast level and found some info on them. I'll need more info on set up since I have never had a ATO.

Quick update.
I went and purchased a ice cap ato. I could not be happier with it. Been in use for 3 months.

Tank shot. Lots have changed in 6 months. Used a filter to cut blues and highlight frags. Not very good at this pictures under blue thing.
