Need some creativity here

I am wanting to purchase the osmolator. I've been looking around for a container to use as a top off reservoir.

What have you guys used that you found worked good? Or what didn't work good? And what did you do to make it look good for sitting in the living room.

I would like to have a lot of good ideas to toss around.

Thanks!

Uh, pretty much anything works. I had a resevoir made for me so that it would look good and was lockable so the kids wouldn't get into it, but I've use just about anything.

Good mornig Moonpod!

I'd love to see a pic of it if you get a chance. I went to Lowes and a couple of other stores and didn't see any thing I cared for. They were either big and bulky and ugly or they were thin enough that I was afraid they would crack. In fact some of them that they had on display that I thought would be perfect were cracked. I would like to have something with wheels on it or something that I could put on one of those little roll about things. Surely would make it a lot easier to move around when needed.

Send me a pic!

Your avatar reminds me of my jaw with all the pins and plates in it.

Thanks, Cindy

Try looking at some different glazed pottery or glass vases, they should be tested for a while to be sure they are water tight.

Good morning rvito!

I was looking at some adds for pottery and had wondered about that. Would there be any problem with lead in the pottery? I don't know if it has lead or not but just wondered or would the glaze take care of that problem? Didn't think about them leaking, glad you mentioned it. I wonder if a hole could be drilled into it for my ro/di line and float valve without cracking it?

While you are here, are there different sized magnet mounts for the Stream 6000?, or does one size fit all? I wanted to go ahead and order the 2x 6000, multicontroller and what ever magnets they need.

Thanks, Cindy

You will only need the small magnet mount 6080.50. I don't think the lead glaze is a big issue for the short time the water is in there. I don't know for sure but I doubt in one week much lead would be absorbed.

Roger gave me a good website to look at for containers. www.usplastics.com They have some verynice stuff. You could have built or do it yourself a box which could be stained to match your furniture/stand to cover the container.

Your welcome. I think its a haven for the little things that reefers need to make their lives easier. I have my eye on 5-10 diferent little goodies on that site that will make my life easier.

I think I may have found something today that will work for a top off reservoir. I bought a black, round , plastic waste paper container today at Big Lots. They also had black wicker laundry basket. (My cabinet is black) THe trash container fits inside the wicker basket perfectly. The wicker should allow me to run my ro/di line directly to the basket with out having to drill any holes. Of course I will have to drill through the plastic container. This certainly looks a lot better than a rubber maid tub sitting out in the floor in my living room.

Some one on another site used a small flower pot with a kent float hooked on to a plastic flower pot which was submerged in the sump. For his reservoir outside of the cabinet he had a tall vase sitting on a pedestal filled with his ro/di water. It feeds the sump by way of gravity and was enough to allow him to be gone all week. It really looked pretty sitting next to his tank and took up very little room. Most of the space it took was vertical. I would prefer to use something like that because it looks so nice and takes up so little room, but I wanted to use something that my ro/di could be fed into directly.

I would still like to hear and see other peoples ideas on a top off reservoir that would look nice in the living room.

Big Lots huh. Tell me if you see my sister or my dad there  they can't stay away from that place. I found the food is the same price at HEB but once in a while they have some neat tools at a good price.

beamer, I don't have pix of mine, but it's just an black acrylic box. Looks better than a bucket.

Moonpod, Do you use the osmolator in yours? And is your ro/di fed directly into your black box?

Cindy

Yes and No. The black box is just a box. The osmolator pump sits in it. I have a hole in the top that the pump cord and output go through and a lid to keep my kids out of it.

Hi Brewboy!

I get confused about things so I thought I'd just PM you instead of embarrasing myself.

I'll be fixing up a reservoir and the osmolator comes with a pump that goes into the reservoir container. Right?

Is the only line that's in the reservoir the one that goes from the pump to the tank? Oh yea, and from my ro/di to the reservoir?

There's not one that goes from the sump where the sensor is to the reservoir, is there?

I know Roger suggests that the top off water go to the main tank rather than to the sump. I really don't understand why.

I thought you always wanted your ro/di in the sump so that when it comes out the return it is mixed well.

I think I found something to use as a reservoir from Big Lots. I posted in that thread about it . I'll try to get some pictures up of it. It doesn't look too bad.

Thanks, Cindy
