Need some help picking out a pump

I have a 50 gallon reef tank with a 20 gallon sump. The tank is roughly 4 feet above the sump and has four returns, plus a UV sterilizer. I currently have a gen-x PCX-40 pump putting out about 1200 GPH. I think that should be enough power, but it is quite noisy.

Can anybody recommed another quieter pump? Marine Depot.Com has a Poseidon Titanium pump that is supposed to be "super quiet" at less than 30 decibles. There is also the Quiet One Pumps which are supposed to be aroud 45 dbs.

Hey Don, did you see the last posting? i recommend the eheim 1250 or maybe even the 1262 for your setup. How's the sump working out for you?

The sump is awesome. I had a guy come out and drill it to attach the pump. The guy was thinking that anything less than about 1200 GPH would not be enough since the tank now has four returns and the UV sterilizer. I will keep looking into it.

Thanks for the suggestion.

glad you like it. 4 returns huh... so your probably drilled for closed loop. In that case you would definitely need a more powerful pump.
