I have had this foxface for a month, qt tank for 2 weeks display two weeks.
Had a lot of nuissance algae he is mowing down and the last four days he has these brown blothces on him. He still gets bright yellow and changes dark when he is worried. Eating great and acting great. All other fish in the tank are fine. Any ideas?

Don't sweat it, my FF has those every once in awhile. I have no idea what causes them, but they come and go and I've had mine for three years now. BTW I had an open brain exactly like yours, in the pic (except 4x as big) and after about two years my FF started nipping at it. It was easier to remove the coral than the FF, so out it went.

Hey thanks for the reply. I hope you are right and it goes away, still looks the same today. The FF has been nipping at the open brain for the past week. I think it is pretty much dead now. Still has color but no reaction to feeding. I like to keep a pretty hands off approach to my tank so we will see what happens.

I wonder if its the algae that he is eating that is causing him to look like this??

Anyone else have any experience? I am sure me and steelhead are not the only ones.
