need some help my ritteri is splitting. when I bought it I noticed that it look like another one was coming out of it. when it opened I was able to see that there was two mouths but still just one foot. Has anyone seen this I always thought they just fully split apart? It's been like this for a few days now too. other then that it looks good I moved to an area with a bit less flow and it started to come out.

When they split they divide very similar to a BTA. They essentially tear themselves apart dividing through the mouth. They don't form two separate mouths and then divide down the column.

My experiences (multiple) is the same as Gary. All I can advice it to take of it as good as you can and take a lot of pictures

I had a mag that died that had what looked like 2 mouths but it was just a spot next to the mouth that was infected and the skin was broken through. Has the mag been staying inflated?

I will take more pictures soon, this thing has 2 heads I can run my finger between them and feel the base (foot) and see the tentacles are detached from each other!

To help others understand can you take a video while you point out both mouths. Do the pans slow so people can see and picture the rest. Then take a turkey baster or something and run it between the two and maybe pull back the edge slightly se they can see down to the foot.

Very interesting.

You got it this way though right?

I will try tonight, but yes when I bought it I noticed what looked like a 1inch slit on the side of it with a few tentacles sticking out of it.

Sometimes anemones bud, which is a different process than splitting. I think budding is more common in carpets than mags, but I would not say it's impossible. It's also not too uncommon for an anemone to have two mouths. I wouldn't be surprised if it stays just the way it is and never separates completely.

Well, there is no question that anemone have two oral plates and one foot. This is the very first abnormality of this sort I see in Magnifica (even pictures). I don't think he is dividing. Keep us up date on the progress of this anemone. It is certainly a rare event.

This is super awesome! Please keep us all updated with the happenings of this nem! Is it still sticky? Have any issues eating?

both eat, and they both are sticky. I went out this weekend and got the other one that he had that came from the same place Just to see what happens, hopefully it wasn’t a mistake.

Quarantine....
speaking from some one that have lost that very special Magnifica. I can not stress that enough. Hope you did not make my mistake. I lost the following two anemones with a non quarantine very beautiful third Magnifica

I'm very curious what ended up happening with your ritteri... That's one of the coolest things I've seen with them. Hope they survived!
