I noticed my corals looked kind of bad and not opening as much as usual. With the heat trend we have I was worried about the temperature of my tank due to the fact that I dont have air conditioning in my new house. Sure enough the thermometer read a 90 deg. . What is the best way to try and get this down, the tank is on the second story of my house and it is pretty warm up there. What can I do to try and fix this problem?

Thanks in advance.
John

Open the hood (if any) and try blowing a fan on the surface of the water (tank and/or sump).

I have a window air conditioner, but last year I had central air so I let a friend use it for the summer. I'll have to get it back from him tomorrow, in the mean time I will try a fan. The lights are off. Is there anything else I can do?

you can float zip lock baggies full of ice to bring down the temp. At this point it is my opinion the damage is being done so getting the temp down is more important than worrying about going slow....

Fans & reduced lighting work well. You can also consider shifting your lighting schedule a few hours to take advantage of cooler evening or morning air temperatures.

to avoid high temperatures i use a reverse day light system, i turn on my lights around 10 pm for the pc's and the MH kick on around 11, and i have an air conditioner for the day time incase it dose get to hot...

but u kinda have to be a night person for this to work for ya, but since i am, it works for me...

hope you find a solution that works for you

floating frozen water in milk jugs or baggies will bring it down .....fans on the tank work good also
