Hello everyone, im goin to be moving from jersey to PA in the next couple months. Im goin to be moving to scranton county, but the town of Thompson....i was wondering if anyone knew any local reef shops to that area. im prolly goin to need water from a shop when i first get there so i can reset up my tank. any info will greatly appreciated.....thanx a bunch!!!

There is nothing around there. I'm close to where you are going to live. One of the better stores is Knockout Aquatics but that's in Tannersville. North in Binghamton area there is a few stores but nothing to write home about.

No there are a few. There is DC Pets in Dickson City, not great but his prices are the best. If you go there definately quarantine.
Pet Zone-Pittston Quite expensive. Coral selection has improved and quality of water has improved but still very overpriced. Customer service isnt the greatest. If you go there try to deal with the kid.
Finsanity-Wilkes Barre-Probabaly your best chance but its an hour ride or a bit more. Good prices and coral is pretty healthy. He has water for sale.
Petco Wilkes Barre-Well its a Petco. Better than some Petco's but its still a Petco.
Creature Comforts Binghamton-For a while they were really trying to improve their saltwater section but it looks terrible now. Prices are a bit high to.
Natures Best-Vestal which is right by Binghamton. Not a bad place. They sell water there. More of a fish only guy but has corals.

The best one in my opinion is knockout aquatics I live in factoryville and I take the drive every other week or so. the prices for dry goods especially salt is highly competitively and a good 10-20% cheaper then the local shops. His live goods are fairly priced. very nice and imo best customer service. small shop. very large frag selection.

I personally would give any of my business to dc pets that place is a disgrace to the pet retail industry and I believe they treat their animals inhumanly. (don't ask any questions seem to know nothing about saltwater or reefs)

As stated before pet zone is expensive, but very clean and has alot of staff to help. (not most knowledgeable by far though) the have a very small coral selection that imo is way overpriced.

Fin-sanity is a one man shop so can get hectic when u visit. best selection and live stock in valley. dry goods are high borderline over priced for some things. Moving to a much larger place in Wilkes-barre on the 28th. It is much needed current location is tiny and is very dirty and dingy for a store open barely a year. (knowledgeable)

I won't give any opinion on live stock because that is so hit and miss at times it not fair because all live stock should be qt'ed

by the way knockout aquatics ro water .50 vs fin-sanity and petzon who sell water for .75
