Need some quick advice.

Tomorrow I am going to our annual fragswap. I am interested in getting a anemone to try to host my pair of ocellaris clown fish. To my knowledge, my best chance for success is to get a carpet or a riteri. Please let me know if there is another option.

I have a 75 gallon tank that has been running for over 2 years now. Here are my questions:

Do you think my tank is large enough to house a carpet or a riteri?

Does it make a differance if I get a giant carpet vs. a saddleback carpet?

If I do get one of these guys do I need to worry about my other fiss or will they keep their distance?

Thanks for the advice.

Ok-So I did not get any anemone since I did not get any advice. I want to make sure I am thinking things through. With that said I would still like a host for my clowns. After some research I did on my own I have realised riteri's are the hardest anemones to keep. So I have eliminated them from the list. I still would like to know:

IMHO bta are the easier host 'nems to keep. Easier not easy. Least difficult, I suppose.

I really don't know anything about carpets so I can't speak to that. Hopefully someone who knows more about them will come along to help you.

BTA's are not natural hosts for ocellaris clowns. I have one and my clowns couldn't care less about it.

Nobody knows anything about carpets!?!?!

hi willie um
you are using confusing common names but im assumeing you are wanting to know wether to get a gigantea or haddoni carpet or a H. magnifica they all require different things so you should decide what you want before you get one
i got a haddoni carpet at salty critter and its doing great finding a healthy one is hard sometimes.

You have a haddoni in a 50g?

All I want is a carpet that will do well in my tank and won't out grow it. I would also like it to not eat everything in my tank.

What do you think I should do?

figure out what anemone you want or post a pic of your tank and all your info like skimmer and lights and how much space you have for it and we can choose for you:)

most of my fees seem to know exactly what the anemone is and to stay away from it

My carpet is small and my tank is 36x18 so im acutually thinking about adding another carpet someday doesnt seem like too small a tank,

75 would be alright but it depends on how much room you have left in it, rock work, corals, lighting, etc. I would recommend starting out with BTA before moving on to a more difficult anemone.

Is yours a blue one? I would love a blue one. I was at SC a couple weeks ago and they had several to choose from, I was soooo tempted to get one.

To answer your questions. I have a 75 gal. tanks with 100-110lbs. of LR. I have 432 watts of T-5 lights. My tank has been up for over 2 years, so it is pretty well established. I use a ro-di unit from buckeye supply. I have a 25 gal. sump/refugium. I think that about covers it. Let me know your thoughts.

I answered the questions about light, rock etc. in my previous post. I currently have a bta. I have had him for over a year.

Here is a pic of my tank to give you a better idea of the layout:

Here is a closer shot of the right side. This is where I would love for a carpet to settle in and call it home.

As you can see there is a lot of room between the rock and the glass.

Let me know what you think.

you definetly dont have enough light for the giganteas with those pcs also i would take out some of the rocks on the right to give the gigantea room the ones salty critter has are bigguns
