Need some suggestions...

I'm about 6 months into my reef tank build. I have 2 Blue Damsels, and I had 2 tank bred clowns. Unfortunately one of them passed away a couple weeks ago, and I think the 2 damsels and picking on the remaining clown.

What I'm considering doing is taking back the remaining clown to the LFS and getting a single bigger wild clown fish as the current one in my tank is tiny.

What are your thoughts on this?

It's a 55g, by the way.

If you would like to have a pair again - I would just get another clown. Just make sure it is bigger than your current one so they don't fight as much for dominance to be female.

If you want to keep just a single clown, they may fight with the damsels anyway since I believe they are in the same family.

So, if I were to get a 'wild' clown which would be much bigger than the current clown that I have, the bigger one wouldn't hurt the smaller one?

Not if they pair up. If you get one that's already turned female, or is obviously the dominate one, then the little one should stay male.

Maybe you should just take the damsels back. Sounds like the tank isn't big enough for all of them.

I'd ditch the damsels, maybe opt for some chromis or less aggressive fish and get another pair of clowns.

Never had issues with my clowns or chromis messing with each other
