hi roger,

i have a 350 tank 8ft, 30"x 28" high

i currently have 2 vortech mp60 one on each side....

overall i have good flow but the sand base is getting algae , i think this is due to lack of flow down low and in the back...

so my thought is to shoot down a few streams along the back wall facing down...it will provide the downward flow into the rear of the rock and get the flow into the sand

whats your thoughts on this?

the dillema is the glass on the rear is 3/4 plus has acrlic so its total thickness is 1"1/8"

the top euro brace is 3/4 thick..but has a gap to the water line of 1"1/2"

if i keep them on the end areas i can hook them on the side pane which is 3/4 and put them down firing or shoot horizontal along the rear... so i can do 3/4 on the side glass but that would not help the center of the tank greatly...

i was thinking mounting on back wall firing straight down.. or from euro brace firing down

i dont think i need crazy flow...as it will just stir the sand up...

whats your thoughts/recommendations to overcome my problems??

thanks

Larry

With some customizing, for example gluing a stub of PVC pipe to the magnet between the magnet and clamp, you could use the top brace, I have seen that done. Otherwise, if you have an overflow box with thinner material, you could just use the magnet holders on the overflow.

The 6105 has the greatest reach and the most forceful and targeted flow, the bigger pumps have wider more diffuse flow, given your goal of sweeping the sand and since you largely have flow covered, the 6105's are the best choice.
