I am in the process of setting up a frag tank with sump but have limited space for live rock. What are some options for me to increase the biological filtration for this system?

Thanks!

What I would do, is put a layer of seachem matrix on the bottom and cover with a good layer of sand. A lot of the seachem matrix will float that's why it needs to be covered. I actually set up my deep sand bed refugium this way and have never had a problem with nitrates. The matrix is extremely porous and will host a ton of bacteria.

Kgeig001,

I was considering running matrix in a reactor. I am also considering just plumbing in a plastic tote refugium with live rock in there as well.

Any other feedback or ideas?

What about marinepure? Iv never used it but its another ceramic media. I comes in plates. Looks super porous. How big is the tank (and sump)?
