Hi there, I have a Canon G10, but I can't take good pictures for the entire tank, front view.. I don't know what's happening but even in RAW, high quality, quality seems to be poor, even in auto mode. Any tips for wide range pictures?

I took those pictures of my tank but as you can see you can't see any coral in detail.. I don't know if I'm being clear..

Witch is the best setting to take dose type of pictures? manual, iso, auto, p, tv, av??

I think that is a nice full tank shot. Your attention to detail will be with your close ups. AV setting, 100-200 iso, and High F. My highest is F32 on my Canon.

I suggest cropping the final pic so that there is nothing visible outside the tank. The eye can't help but wander out of the tank otherwise and that's distracting. Keep the attention where it should be.

I worked with one of them just a little bit. I did as Reef Bass suggested and cropped away all the irrelevant stuff, that's pretty much a must for getting a good tank shot.

Then the second biggest problem to me seemed to be that all your corals in the center and towards the right of the photo were overexposed. They were very very white and you get no detail there. So I lowered the exposure, raised the blacks a little bit and added a little bit of fill light.

Anyway, I think the biggest thing you need to do when you take a picture is make sure not to over expose anything. I'd rather see some corals be a little too dark than some be a little too bright, imo, darker corals look more natural and just better than blindingly bright corals.

There is probably more you can do and someone with more experience can chime in, but that was my take on it ;)
