Need tips on proper Biopellet/MB7 dosage

I am 2 months and one week into my 300ml BRS biopellet and MB7 dosage for my new tank. I followed the directions on the bottle and dosed 3 capfulls into my 67g tank for the first two weeks. Afterwards I began dosing 1.5 capfulls once a week.

Within the 4th week I added one blue millipora frag and two ocellaris clowns. A week after that, 2 cardinals and two lyretail anthias went into the tank. My NO3 has been testing at 2.5 and all I noticed was a white film that grew on the glass. In the last week, I have seen a brown film and tiny brown hairs growing on my rocks. None of the rocks in the tank were live when I started the tank, it is dry Marco rock.

This Friday, I am scheduled to add another 1.5 caps into the tank, but am wondering if it would he better to decrease the dosage or split it throughout the week and dose daily. My NO3 is currently testing at 1 with an Elos kit and Ph is at 7.9.

What are common indicators for when the MB7 dosage should be increased?

Live rock

Live rock

Rather than worrying about Mb7 It would be a good idea to get at least a little bit of a good quality live rock. A biopellet reactor should kick in sometime after 6 weeks at the latest. You have about the right amount of pellets. Another 100 ml wouldnt hurt anything. You should be checking your phosphates also.

Good luck

I know that the pellets are doing it's job since my NO3 has gone down, but does adding live rock really change anything? Since the bacteria is already in the system, I don't see where adding live rock would help.

I'll take a picture of the algae soon.

I run 1000ml of bio pellets on my tank and i never used mb7 with them. I had a bacterial bloom and after a few days it went away. And yes good established live rock is a better bacteria source imo with adding mb7. It will seed after a while but its no instant.
