Need to borrow a not-currently used controller

Anyone got a neptune AquaController II or Jr, with serial cable, that they aren't using/haven't installed yet? I'm working a deal with someone on an ACII, but haven't got it yet, and I'm writing an app to control it.

I'm at the point where I need to start writing the serial port I/O routines, and need to have one to test/write against. I only need access to it for about a week or so, unless my deal works out quicker!

don't need any of the acoutrements - just the controller+ps+serial cable.

'ppreciate that - nice talking to you..

For the crowd, I'm trying to integrate my current hobbies, which is vintage computers, and the aquarium, so I'm working on using a circa 1983 TRS-80 Model 100 (or an NEC PC-8201A) to control and monitor the Neptune AquaController via the AC's serial port.

Should be a hoot, once it's running.

The funniest part, is that the AquaControllers are probably more powerful than the Model 100's !!!

For those that have NO idea what I speak of:
Here's the Model 100:

Here's the NEC PC-8201A:

I'm about halfway on the menu/interaction interface.
Trying to devise a way to do the monitoring screen.
I have set up the skeleton areas for the different functions, ie, monitoring, manual overrides, setup, etc..

Man - I haven't touched one of these BASIC-language beasts in about 15 years!

Nerd :p

I never had to use those BASIC language beasts 'cause I'm a youngun, but I remember learning BASIC in school with Turtle Basic, where you program BASIC scripts to get the turtle to do cool designs on the screen. Sorta like an elementary level CAD program :p

Sounds like a cool project though...

R-Dub, I'm almost 40.

My first computer plugged into a television...
We didn't have floppies - I used cassette tapes...

I guess instead of running away from the fact, might as well embrace it!

Oh, I've heard all the stories from my dad who has owned damn near every computer since those TV plug in ones. Crazy how far technology has come since Charles Babbage.

I had a Texas Instriuments 64. (thats 64k of memory) I hooked it to my tv. There was to HD or floppy. I had a radio shack casset player to imput programs. It took 5 minutes to imput. Then I was able to play cool games like pirates adventure. A text based advednture game. After a while I got a speack systhesier. Man now that was cool.

Then I got a IBM PC. Wow this thig was a powerhouse. It had a floppy drive so I could load DOS. I was still able to play the text adventure games I was so enthraled with but now I just had to load DOS and then load the gamed from a real floppy. It only took 2 minutes. I even had the monocrome (green) display and wait get this...a dot martix printer. Some times when its late at night and its real quiet I can still hear the echo of that printer....

Should I tell you how excited I was to get that first 2400 baud modem? connected...that was la ****.

Wow I remember the first time I saw spider...a real working search engine.

I am starting to sound like my grand father.
