anybody know of a cheap way i can make a sump for a 600 gallon tank. i was thinking about 120-150 gallons would work best. put a 60g refugium in it and a protein skimmer and we're money. anybody have any input on this?

interesting. i was just looking at rubbermaid's 150 gallon trough. i think i am gonna go that route. any suggestions on whether or not to put baffles in there, and if i do than how would i do it. thanks for the response

I have one of the heavy rubermade stock tubs that is fixing to be empty next weekends, but its the 200 gallon sized one, I will be letting it go cheap if you are interested.

I have a 100g rubbermaid. I used egg crate instead of baffles.

On the left, the returning water from the tank overflows drops into chaeto and live rock. This cuts down the bubbles tremendously.

In the center is my ASM g6 skimmer (the return water from there goes back into the chaeto).

In the right, is the main pump intake.

here is an old picture take on the day i set it up before i moved the main pump intake and got the g6. This services a 220g.

that sounds like a good setup, but i was wondering if having the fuge with the skimmer without any type of flow is good for the natural breeding of pods.
i was thinking a g5 would do well, but you say u have a g6 in a 220g, damn, looks like a 1000 dollar skimmer is inevitable.

ill get back to u on the dimensions. need to get a tape measure.

200 gallons, hmm let me think about that, if the price is entriguing i might do it.

ill post some pics when i get a chance

If my sump is any indication, breeding pods is not a problem. The chaeto and surrounding areas is crawling with them.

As for the g6, i got it used with pumps for about $200. :)
