well the larger the better. if i had the ability, i would drill the floor and do a remote sump with a 150 gallon live stock tub, but in my opinion, a smaller sump is better than no sump. as long as it holds enough water for you skimmer and return pump, and has enough spare space for any back siphon when the pumps are off.

I would only be able to fit about 10 gallons under my tank for a sump, so in the end it seems like it's not worth it. I don't want it exposed whatsoever either
really the size of the sump matters in-so-much as it can fit under your stand, and accommodate the equipment you tend to house there.
anything beyond that minimum is an added bonus.
the larger the better, but provided it holds the stuff you need, it will suffice.
i forget if the cpr bakpak can work in a sump or not. i had the bakpak 2 and hated it. couldn't get it to stop leaking. if it won't sit in the sump, there is always the possibility of hanging it off the sump.
Well, if I do create a custom sump, it's going to be small seeing how my would be able to only handle 11x12 room wise and I have plenty of room height wise
