Its a good thing I did not have much $$ in it.. The bit I have is 65mm or close to 2 5/8", for 1 1/2" heavy-duty sch 80 bulkheads. It is a larger bit than the norm.. The bulkheads are from Marine Depot...You are welcome to borrow it after I do my 125..
If you don't want to drill it yourself (don't blame you) try Binswanger (sp?) glass. They don't promise they won't break it but, at least they have some experience in drilling glass. Also, they will be able to tell you whether or not your tank glass is tempered or not.
Those folks were (pardon) a-holes to me when i asked them about it. i merely asked if they drilled fish tanks - and the chick acted as if i were responsible for the holocaust.
how DO you determine if your tank is tempered or not? i may be willing to try on mine if i were to have a spare >50gal tank on hand in case things went to $hit. i know mine is supposed to be an all glass oceanic.
my official "fish killed by powerhead" count went up again day before yesterday when i found Arsenio (the bi-color foxface) stuck to the intake on my MJ 1600. my SEIOs aren't dangerous like that, but having the tank drilled and getting a nice return pump would keep me from hitting #5... sigh :bum: if only i could frag money - hell - even coins would be nice!
Oceanic can be drilled, except for the bottom, they're tempered. Matt and I drilled a new 90gal ocean full of holes, and my 180 oceanic is full of holes too! Just like swiss cheese.
