Need to get pod population back up

I switched tanks about a year ago and lost pretty much all my pods. I have a fuge and lots of live rock, but no pods in sight. I've added "pod packs" (green bag with pods in it supposedly) with no help. There is nothing in my fuge that would be eating them, there has just never been a good enough population in this tank to get it going again. That pod pack I added was ridiculous, there was nothing in there. Whats the best way to get my population started again? Anyone willing to ship be some of theirs? :lol2: Stores around here are very limited and none had any live rock that had visible amphipods or copepods on it.

Any way to get a bag of Chaeto and/or LR rubble from your LFS or local reefer? The bottom of the LR tank is where you usually find the most life.

I noticed my tank had no pods until I added a new piece of LR. Boom, pod explosion! Maybe you could ask a local reefer who has a lot of pods for a piece of their LR?
Edit: Or +1 to greech.

I ordered some from reefs2go. It didn't look like much when I removed it from the packaging (although I could see some of the larger amphipods), but now my aquarium is covered with the little buggers.

Have you tried Tigger Pods by Reef Nutrition? Maybe you can order online.

I've also bought oceanpods...http://livecopepods.com/, I bought these and then had an unfortunate run in with red bugs..but I was able to culture these copepods no problem. I dumped in the bottle into a refugium..and the pods that stuck to the sides and the small amount of chaeto I put into a seperate container. Threw in some phyto and they boomed.

The best way to get pods, is to find a local reefer with an established fuge, and ask for a chunk of their macro algae. Had a fuge for about 5 months with no luck getting a pod population. I went and picked up a softball size chuck of macro algae from another reefer, and with in 2 months had a pod explosion..

Easiest way is to get chaeto or LR from an established tank, and hold off on livestock that eats pods.

Do you target feed your fuge ?

I'll use a feeding stick with a piece of shrimp or krill after lights out just too see how many creatures of the night come out. Leave it in there until it's either gone or until an hour or so has passed. I'll also pour in a little cyclopeze just for the pods, after lights out too.
