I picked up a 3" long crocea clam today and my main tank has a lunar wrasse in it. I didnt know they eat clams but he actually bit through the bag during acclimation to get to this clam...

I have the clam in my nano for now but anyone have any suggestions for catching this elusive SOB?

I had a Lunare Wrasse. and more recently a Red Coris wrasse I had to get out of a tank. I tried traps, netting, slow acclimation (spent days with the net in the tank shifting it and moving it to get him used to it). Sorry to tell you, in both cases I had to rip apart all my live rock and remove it to get them both out.

I had one guy suggest getting window screening and lay it over the rocks, then wait for him to make his way out and trap him that way, so he can't dart back into the rocks, but I've never tried that. It seems like it would destroy all my coral, so....

Good luck!

I wish I could remember the exact name, but a couple weeks ago I came across a thread in the archives that lists about 10 different ways to catch recalcitrant fish - without tearing apart your tank. It would be well worth your time to look for it. I'd try to find it for you but I just don't have the time (although I don't think it will be hard).

But a large fish trap, place the clam into the trap.
You will not have to wait long.

I caught mine with a fish hook. Get a really small fly hook and put some nori on it. My wrasses are the biggest pigs in the tank and catching him was pretty easy.
