need to lower my 300+ ppm nitrates in 30 gal

still ridiculously high (hard to tell with dip strips) also i checked to see accuracy sorta, my RO water is none, and tank off the charts. Yet it is lower i can tell. maybe 190 ish? hehe

i've done about three - 5 gal waters changes. and three - 7 gal water changes. looking to get some macro algae and alot more liverock soon about 30 lbs on top of the existing 20 n about 20 more lbs live sand. to destroy it!

I am also in the process in modifying a 10 gal into a copy of Melev's Model A sump. It will add roughly 7 more gallons, and imma stick some chaeto in there.

Waiting on the maxijet 1200 to come in and see if that helps my skimmer.. if not imma just throw it at the wall!! :strooper: haha, maybe not.

i got a scare however the other day! my tank rose in temp to 87!! so i had to take off the glass and add a fan, cant wait for the sump..

Just did a big water change again.. filled up my trashcan a lil' over half way with fresh saltwater. Got the Nitrates down to 180. Fish don't seem to be affected from all this, except the damsels have hid in the commotion.

the little bucket is the old water, i shook the rocks like crazy in there and a bunch of detritus/sand came off. My thinking was maybe alot of it was being harbored in the rocks.

Its a bit cloudy, from the water change as well as there are micro bubbles from the new pump on the remora.. i'm trying the rio 1400 as it turns out this is the remora pro. Im going to wait a day or two to see if it starts skimming.. if not im going to find my hammer... :hammer:

You can sorta see the fan i put up to fight the heat, as it was damn near 90 the other day. Evaporation is near 1 gal a day.

I patched a small leak with some silicone on the intake. it was a very slow leak so not much was needed.

Also, I found some bristle worms, so atleast now i know some invertebrates can tolerate this tank, haha.

i am now putting in a bunch of supplements. Kents - PhytoPlankton, Coral-vite, Liquid calcium, Tech I, Essential Elements, and Purple Tech.

** I do have a question or two about that

1) is there anything i missed? ive been looking into bioptim and notice its supposed to lower nitrates, is it helpful?

2) I've noticed Liquid Calcium, and Purple Tech both provide calcium etc. would i just be able to subsitute my liquid calcium with the purple tech?

Thankyou!

Sam

haha plus a "3D" model of what my sump will be like (Melev's Model A Spin OFF)

I ordered the glass to be cut, and in place of teeth in using eggcrate. I plan to just throw the carbon into the intake tower when i want to run it.

Will that be too much flow?
