Any suggestions on what/where I should buy is appreciated. Not afraid to buy quality stuff as I don't want my fish to fry. :furious:

Last one broke because I was replacing water and forgot to unplug the heater in the sump!!!! :blown:

I have a small backup one that doesn't appear to be working well (hard to dial in a reasonable temperature, either too hot or too cold).

Thanks for any suggestions! I'm in west Hoffman Estates/Elgin area. :)

i like stealth heaters...they are cheap and havent broke yet.

a lot of people will recommend titanium heaters though...

AWESOME DEAL!!!

AWESOME DEAL!!!

jasutton, thanks so much for the advice. Without you telling me there were actually titanium heaters, I would have never known.

Here is a great small site, http://petsupplyliquidator.com, that allows some really really decent prices. I bought the 200w titanium heater, 19.99+ 4.99 shipping, very reasonable, and it's really nice and accurate as heck and easy to set temperature.

Good luck to the overpriced Petsmart and Petco. The web rules!!!

Petsmart

Petsmart

You know i havent tried this, but i read on this forum that petsmart will not be underpriced. I was told that you could even print out web deals and take it there and they will honor that price. Again, i dont know if this is true as i havent done this yet. Just some food for thought. especially if you can save the money from shipping...it would rule.

glad you found a heater you liked

Yes, petsmart will honor their online prices. BTW, when you need salt that is the way to do it. You get the online price at the store w/o having to pay the shipping for it.

I always had success with EboJager heaters.
