Need to thin my zoas

I need some suggestions to thin out my zoa population. These things are outta control and I need to do something fast. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I can't remove the rock as they are glued in place so it's gonna have to be done underwater. I've almost gotten to the point where I'd like to get a zoa eating nudibranch to take care of em.....

Unfortunately without removing the rock from the tank, you run the possibility of breaking sps or having a rock slide.

I think the tank looks great I would just let it go and do as they please. Otherwise as said about you risk breaking SPS or having a rock fall.

remove them from the rock

remove them from the rock

I think they look beautiful, but I understand why you wouldn't want them crowding out your sps.

Heres what to do: (I hope you have a steady hand)

get a scalpel, razor blade, or exact-o knife
Go to the edge where you want to remove some, and carefully scrape the rock underneath them to remove their "foot" from the rock. Keep some rock attached to them, and glue them to frag plugs and make a buck or two... Or send them to me and I'll pay shipping =]

I REALLY DO NOT suggest getting a zoanthid eating nudibranch.

Good luck!
