Need to vent

Well I was out of town for three days and when I got back to my horror I had 4 died and the rest of my fish don't look to good. I have moved them to my QT and I am hoping that they get though what ever this is. I am now understanding why so many people get into this hobby and then just as fast get out. I am thinking that this might be the last straw for me too, every time I think things are going well I get a nasty surprise.

REALLY FRUSTRATING.

What kind of details do you need water parameters are all great 0,0,10 ph 8.2 temp 78. All is normal I don't get it!

Very sorry to hear of your losses Val, I also understand how frustrating it can be to lose fish for no apparent reason. Maybe we can help if we have a few more details. What size tank, what type of filtration, how many fish, which lived and which died? Was someone watching the tank? Did they top it off and not over-feed? Anything else that might be pertinent?

sorry to hear about that. it is tough dealing with a loss like that. what is it about going away and tanks going to hell? 3 days isnt that long, you figure it would be ok for that length of time.

Really sorry to hear that Val :( what a horrible thing to come home to!

Makes you wonder what on earth did go wrong? In 3 days it shouldn't have made much of an impact on anything unless you had someone watching the tank that didn't know what they were doing?? Maybe added unchlorinated tap water?

Sorry again - hope this doesn't drive you out of the hobby.... :(

:( That Truly Sucks there have been Times I wish I had not got into this Hobby. Then I see my Fish and Tanks and that reminds me why I stay in this Hobby. It sounds as if some Type of Poison got into the Tank do you have any Fish that may secret Toxins when they are Stressed. Some Fish do do this I have read, has anyone Sprayed in your Room lately.Spray Can or poison for Insect control for example.:(

Could you have had an extended power outtage? That could have caused oxygen starvation, with no water agitation going on from pumps, skimmers, etc.

Hi all
All the things you all have suggested I have already looked into and nothing. I just don't get it. All the survivors are in the QT right now and seem to be doing fine. The two fish I was really worried about my puffer and harlequin tusk are looking great and are eating well. The only thing I can think of is that the fish starved to death, and I don't think that is possible, not in three days any way.
BTW I have a 240 gallon and I lost a clown, a tomini, a sailfin and a goby. The survivors are puffer, a harlequin tusk, 3 damsels (bullet proof) and a yellow tang.
