I am trying to get over some surgery but im not strong enough to go collect water now, anyone know of a good water service? A 50% water change is really needed badly, 400 gallons. Im in Lake Worth, FL. Im not made of cash but need the water change badly, im loosing corals ive let it go so long...

We had a thread a while ago about delivery service. I know that Eco-Reef (I think they changed their name recently) does water delivery, as do most LFS.

Sorry to hear that your tank isn't doing well, but hopefully you're doing better now after surgery!

I hope your surgery went well.

I'm not trying to beat you up or anything, but I would think that if you have an 800 gal tank that you would have made provisions for doing water changes easily. I know this doesn't get you out of your present situation. I'm just curious ????

I only have a 150 (about 200 total with add ons) and my weekly water changes are a snap. Turn a pump on - twist a ball valve.

coralfragger101, one dosnt plan for a tumor to happen. Ive been doing water changes for a long time by collecting my own.

Between anti-cancer meds and the surgery, i didnt even think about caring for my tank.

Hey Don, sorry about your situation dude. But I wouldn't let what coralfragger says get to you, this cat isn't the most sensitive person on here.

Marine Scenes, I have not heard that name in a long time since they left Miami, Dan and Jan are great I highly recommend them.

Compulou: I wished the man well. My comment was not meant to be derogatory (it even stated so). I had a simple question out of curiousity (it even stated so). And quite frankly - I think your comment was totally uncalled for.

Don: Apology extended if you did happen to take my comment in a deragotary manner. It was not meant to be and I, of all people, know where you are coming from. I almost lost my own child to a cancerous brain tumor.

Don, wish you well! As far as Coralfragger's insensitive comment, look at his occupation. What does that tell you!!!!

Exactly what does that tell you smilin?
Talk about generalizations.

I'm one of of the hardest working individuals at my station according to management and I'm a person that would give the shirt off their back to someone they didn't know. You don't know me and certainly have absolutely no right to judge me.

Read the post. Don didn't mention what kind of surgery. This could have been anything from a broken leg to heart surgery. I've personally "probably" had more surgeries than anyone here and maybe I have become a bit desensitized as a result of it (meaning the doc says I need another operation - it doesn't rattle me, I say, when?) but that actually has nothing to do with this.

I simply asked the man a question about his system because I was curious - period.

Where is this thread going? How did this happen.

Now let me say that I have met with coralfragger several times and he is a great guy. I think that all he ment was that with such a big tank he would have had some automation to it. Who would have guessed that Don would be hauling that much water from the ocean. It just sounds like a lotta work. Hell that is a lotta work. He must really love his tank.

Don I hope all goes well and you make a fast recovery.

I would suggest you find one of the companies who supply the LFS to make a delivery to you. Get a big tank from tank depot and run a Hose from the tank depot tank to the tank. That way you are not lifting anything.

thanks for the concern guys, the reason I didnt want to mention what i had, its a tough subject, a young men's type of tumor, bilateral. The tumor was removed and im on shots for the rest of my life to be normal. I wasn't past stage 1 yet so everything is good.

Things are just getting back together and i noticed my poor tank's status. My mom and sister have tried to take care of it, but....

I dont have a water truck per say I have a van that i put 3 large roughneck trash cans in and a bunch of 5 gallon bottles and then go collect water at the bridge in Rivera beach near peanut island.. I cant seem to find my pump and my upper body strength is trashed from the pre-op therapy, so i just need someone to come deliver. I forgot about Marine Scenes, its been a long time since i talked to Jan & Dan! Ill give them a visit....

Yeah, I love Jan and Dans' store. IMO there fish are some of the healthiest around, and they are some of the most helpful and sincere LFS owners that I have met.

Don, I live in Boynton so if you ever need any help let me know.

Don, if you still haven't found anyone I've got a couple of other numbers you could try. Don't know if they work in your area but again it wouldn't hurt to try. Let me know dude.

well i couldnt get water delivered and i noticed my LTA was dead, and giving off a brown mist / jelly, i had to fish it out and dispose of it. My frog spawn has lost 2 heads and my hammer has lost 6. My green slimer & my candy coral is dead but my leather, xena, ricoridas, green harry shrooms, and purple shrroms are all doing great. My Sebe is hanging on as its near the light and has soaked up lots of sun... all my zoos and pallys are all closed up.. My PH is really low, like 6.9, i dont know how it got that low, but my calcium is 410, a little nitrates, less than 10, almost no phos, less than 1, and no ammonia.

So, i went and collected a few hundred gallons today at the inlet and filtered it as i did a water change, things are already starting to perk up, I need to start watching the PH and buffer more i guess.

Anyone know of a good ALK test kit?

You should have called me. I would have been more than happy to run up there and help you out today.

My vote on ALK kit would be Elos. Very easy to use and read.
