Well I am in the market for a set of lenses and although I know that the canon L series is Top of the line. I don't see my self ever getting to serious about photography to spend that much. Not to mention I don't have the $$$ to spend on some L series. I have an XTi and only have the kit lens. So I was looking at my second option and here it is. In order of what I would by first. Thanks in advance.

1: Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG (general and walk around)
2: Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L USM ( animals or closeups)
3: Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM or Sigma Zoom Super Wide Angle 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX Aspherical DG HSM (landscapes or wide shoots)

Hold on a moment, I have to get my camera.

I just had to save this moment. You really did you homework. Every one of the lenses you have listed are excellent choices, and each one of them will do a specific job that the others aren't so good at. You already knew that though.

So you have my blessing on all of your choices. One of them is even an "L" after all! Basically you have answered your own question.

Start at the top of your list and work your way down. I personally recommend the Canon for #3. I would bet money BeerGuy is going to give the 12-24 his shout of approval. They are both excellent.

One addition you may want to make is the 100mm f/2.8 Macro for your tank, but I'm sure you already know all about it too.

Hahahahaha thats too funny. Thanks, its been a brain buster trying to select between all of these lenses. But I looked at reviews and even at some sample photos. The one that was a really hard choice was the 24-70 sigma and the 24-70 L series so after much debate between only getting one lens a year or two a year I went ahead and made a selection but wanted to get an experts opinion on it.

I have the 24-70 L myself, it sure is a piece of work. The Sigma is a great route though! I think each of those lenses will give you many, many years of quality enjoyment.
