Needing some sump/skimmer advice..

I have a 90g tank with a AGA Model 1 sump. A bit on the small side, but have decided to run it. My problem is, what GOOD skimmer will fit in a sump that size yet still work for a 90g? Posting a picture of dimensions. My next question, does the sump need to have the top on it over the return and main chamber? If not, I think I will have many more options of skimmers.

You will probably have a hard time getting a skimmer that is big enough for a 90 gal tank in that sump the two compartments look like they are to small to fit a skimmer that will work properly for your tank. As a general rule of thumb it is a good idea to use the two times rule with reef tanks , which means get a skimmer that is rated to close to twice the tank size. Hope this helps .

It looks like the chambers have a portion at the bottom where they connect. You might be able to fit a vertex omega 130, maybe a 150. They're needle wheel, but very nicely built and come with sicce pumps. What are the other demensions of the sump?

Nevermind. I didn't realize the first portion would have water pouring over the top of the skimmer. So you're limited to the middle chamber or the last. Might look into doing it exernally or maybe an aqua c. They are rectangular and might fit in the middle chamber. Could also manufacturer your own rectangular skimmer like an aqua c. Taps plastics cuts straight cuts for free.
