Nem gone and Duncan bought

Well, my BTA got returned to the LFS last night. He hide from when I first got him and I think he killed my goby. Yesterday he moved and was looking amazing, but unfortunately the spot he picked was right on top of our gorgonian coral who seemed stressed by the attention. After reading so much about BTSs here, I made the decision to get rid of him. Fortunately just a little stroking of his foot got him to release and I think he will be ok. The LFS took him back.

We also got a real cool looking Duncan coral which is already starting to look great. I feel bad about the BTA but think it was the right thing to do. Maybe I will set up a Nano with anenomes and clowns down the road in my home office. I think it is best to keep them separate from the corals so they don't hurt each other.

I am learning! Me and my husband are having a blast putting together this tank.

Anenomes present various types of challenges.
Nice Duncan....remember to target feed the polyps say 1 per week.

Nice new Duncan colony, and branching hammer while we're at it. Both are excellent bang for your buck corals.

Feed if you want, but they don't need it.

Thanks! Our LFS has great corals. I could spend thousands there. I am trying to be careful to get ones that are hardy so I don’t kill them during the learning process. My husband always wants to get the ones that scare me a little. He saw a Kenya tree last night that is calling him. I bet he comes home with it this afternoon. I think I created a monster when I suggested a reef tank lol

A. You did create a monster. So now you must pour your money into this pit we call a tank.
B. Kenya tree can be quite invasive...I would avoid.

Great pickups on the new corals.

Controlling the husband is impossible and I don’t try. Ironically we met doing another expensive hobby. We both compete in Dog obedience and agility. He was my student and now is my training partner. Such fun sharing all this with him.

I have a feeling this hobby is going to be another obsession in our lives.

Yep, I was right. He came home with a Rasta leather and a rock covered with purple Zoas I had been admiring. So my guess was right about bringing home corals, just wrong about which ones. I do love the zoa rock.

You want to see corals? I see you live in Rochester, have a short drive over to Buffalo and check out ARC(A Reef Creation) out by the airport. Hands down the best store I've been to in NY. Certainly not the cleanest, but dirty in a well used kind of way.

This is hands down one of the best store's in NY, and trust me I'm pretty sure with the exception of NYC, I've been to nearly every one in the state.

PS.
Make sure you ask to see their online sales dept/back room/clownfish breeding section.

Great tip Homer!

And schnebbles, he used to bring home different rocks, but I really love my zoa rock!
