Nemateleotris magnifica aka firefish

Hey Mimic, I just started a trio of these to see what happens. From the little bit of searching that I did get to do, I didn't see any recorded evidence of breeding in the tank. Like I said, I didn't get to look too hard yet though.

I had a pair, and sometimes one of the pair would disappear into their bolt hole for days or even weeks. That's the ONLY evidence I ever had that there may have been spawning going on. Setting them up in a breeder tank with easily removeable pots & pipes would work better for observing than a full blown reef tank like I had my pair in. FWIW, a sand substrate on the bottom may be helpful. Look up related fish too, like the "Scissor Goby".

Thanks Matt. I have mine in my reef now as I think they are juveniles yet. I am going to watch them and see what happens and if they start retreating for a couple days at a time, I will pull them out and put into a breeder tank.
