Nemertea

Just thought I would share some pictures of one of these that I've had for over 8 months now:

Those are the best pictures I could get because it doesn't often come out while the lights are on.

I'd be interested in finding out (if anybody knows) what genus this belongs to, what it eats, how long it gets (doesn't appear to have grown significantly), and how long it lives.

I assume you got yours as a hitchhiker, so there is no point in asking where I could get one.

Mine got to the LFS as a hitchhiker but they sold it to me when I spotted it. After well over a year it seems to have grown a bit, but I still have no idea what it eats and I've tried offering it everything. Rarely shows itself, even at night.

This thing is around 4 ft long when fully extended but stays bunched up in 2 inch heap most of the time.

I love my Nemertean and wish I knew where to get more.

yeah, mine was a hitchhiker

Now that I think about it, I have seen it extend it's proboscis once during the day near a snail, although it seemed to have gotten scared by something as it went back into it's hole. I've also noticed that it will come out during the day if I kill aptasia or feed the tank excessively.

that's a very cool nemertean

I know its been over a year since i posted in this thread... i guess i forgot about it. I saw my worm again recently, and he seems to be doing well still.

@seahorsedreams: my tank is a 20 long with 4 t-5 lights on an icecap 660. sump is 10 gallon w/ 25W compact fluorescent and an old CPR bak-pak skimmer
