Nems on the move

After 3 months my Ritteri (H. Magnifica) decided to start moving up. It crawled all the way up the overflow and only the water line is stopping it from going any further. Coincidently, after my BTA split, one half is on the move as well. I took this as a hint that it was time to replace my bulbs on my T5 setup. I'm not too worried about the BTA as I know they move after they split but the mag somewhat worries me as it has not moved more than an inch in 3 months but in one day moved over a foot. Anyone have any experience with mags suddenly deciding to take a stroll?

Here's where it ended up. I think it moved (and maybe the BTA split) because I had a small ammonia spike due to and maroon clown digging a hole in my DSB and me having to move a few rocks to get all the fish out. It's ok there but I really don't like that it's blocking the overflow from getting a lot of crap floating in the water out. I may have to move it back to the center rock where it was out of the way.

Hopefully the ammonia is all gone. I would do water changes and frequent carbon changes to get the water quality up to snuff. What are your parameters? It's been my experience that mags don't appreciate nitrates and will start to move around if the nitrates start to rise.

Your suspicion that the T-5s need to be changed may be right on also. I currently run T-5s over mine and the mags seem to respond well to them. I suggest ATI Blue plus and GE Daylights, both very high PAR bulbs. I order mine from Reefgeek. I noticed you're here in LA area. You will get the bulbs the next day if you order early in the day.

That sounds like a good lineup. Very high PAR.

Every mag I've owned has moved to higher ground if it could detect a path. Now I place mags on pillars, where they can't reach a path to higher ground.
