I have a pair of neon dottybacks that spawned ( I think) a littlw while ago. The male was frantically trying to get the female to follow him to his cave by darting towards her and then darting to his cave. She eventually released a ball of eggs in the middle of the tank and then continued to trail a string of eggs for a few minutes before releasing them. All tank parameters are normal, sg is at 21, no nitrates and temp of 81. They are in a thirty five gallon tank with a breeding pair of cardinals and a juvenile pair of maroon clowns. also have two breeding cleaner shrimp and five breeding peppermint shrimp. The dottybacks get fed a home made diet for breeding clowns so i am hoping it's not a nutrition issu. Could this be due inexperience?
