I'm thinking of getting a Neon goby actually 2 not sure if a pair, I have some questions. these are wild caught

1 will they eat other things besides dead skin, parasites, etc (cleaning stuff)

2 will they co-exist with a tiger jawfish (big mouth worries me)

3 what is their typical lifespan

4 is there another small goby species that is more suitable for reef (green bar, sharknose, etc)

Thank you

1) Yes, IME pretty good eaters of anything that will fit in their mouth.
2) Don't know, never kept them together.
3) Probably a couple years. Can't say for sure though.
4) Great fish IMO.

I agree. They are great fish but easily fall into the overflow. Despite being cleaners, hawkfish will try to eat them.

i've read that dusky jawfish may eat small fish and other jawfish may use their mouth to move or clear the gobies from their lare

Jawfish will usually clear gobies that live in the same habitat as them (sand), such as sand sifting gobies and watchman gobies. I think you would be fine mixing them.
