i dont know why but this moring all my rocks that wernt coverd in corline algea have a bright neon lime green algea on them and its all over my glass tested my water every thing is zeroed idk if this is becouse its a new tank or what . did anyone have this problem?

ok had me worried that it was becouse of a nitrate spike or something would this still happen even if my tank has been up for a couple months now

your tank will go through swings constantly for the first year or so... mine is going to be a year in june and i still get random outbreaks of algae and stuff. most of these early problems are solved by time...

it could be phosphates and slime algea as well. if it is, you'll need to do something about the phosphates or the algea will get worse and worse no matter what you do. Do you use RO, RO/DI, or just tap water?

i use just tap water im so like lost rite now with my tang and and the algea idk what to do weather to just do a big water change or what im lost

Don't panic.

1.) A water change won't help your ich problem at all.

2.) Doing a 20% water change once a week MIGHT reduce your phosphates, since I'm going to blame the algea on them, but the better way to go about it would be to buy some kind of phosphate reduction media. You should be able to get something appropriate for your size tank for pretty cheap.

If you do the water change you must buy good water ( Walmart distilled) or actually "sea water" by the gallon found at some aquarium shops, OR buy Ro/di water from an aquarium store,or use someones RO/DI or buy one. "short -cuts" always cost more later.
