I have been looking at buying an apex controller for a while now.....just don't have the cash.....but I did hear from many LFS that most apex equipment is on back order and can be a bit of a wait.....I think I remember seeing jlaquatics with most apex in stock but they are located in Canada. Good luck!

It's crazy how fast they sell out.. Does Neptune wait until they have a mass amount of controllers then ship them? I guess what makes it harder for us hobbyists waiting is not knowing just how long it takes to manufacture one of these things..

I just bought the Apex and had the same problem with being sold out. The one I did find was missing the temp controller. They did take 30.00 off of the price

I would order directly from Neptune while calling them to see when they would ship. The holiday sales and moving to a larger location is what caused the shortage.

I'd call and make sure first, just in case. Many of the online retailers drop ship these things straight from the manufacturers so it might be backordered even if the website says they're in stock. I've never been burned by PA specifically, but it's been my experience that if every retailer but one is out of stock then they're probably all out of stock.

And then what always happens to me is that one place I ordered from is actually the last to get the new stock in!

If Neptune's store is showing out of stock you might call them like James said because they would be the ones who know what they're waiting on.

That was the case two weeks ago. I just asked about the Juniors in another thread on the Neptune forum. The seller I ordered from had been in touch with Neptune who told him that they were manufacturing Juniors all week (two weeks ago) and that last week they would start shipping them after that full week of production. It doesn't look like that happened as they would have arrived at the stores by Friday at least. So who knows what's going on. Many sites say they are in stock when in fact they are not. Perhaps Neptune will answer my question in their forum here.

thank you all for the replies! I have noticed most sites say they are in stock when in fact they are not. Premium Aquatics being one of them. I signed up for the TBAquatics mailing list and got a 5%off coupon so I just applied it to the Apex Lite plus they had a pinpoint Ph probe add on for $15! Grand total in the $380ish dollar area for the Lite+probe shipped... not bad..

I'm in Warwick and am sure I've seen you overhead. My father was a WI guard pilot back in the day and flew F-102 and A-10s. The army guard there has blackhawks, too.

(if people can have threads that devolve into motorcycles I think we can have one with helicopters).

Back on topic, though, for retail orders I like to order from the manufacturer unless I have a coupon or something. In a case like this where something has been backordered, Neptune probably packages a ton of new ones on one day to send to resellers, and then probably packs all of the consumer orders the next day, so yours might arrive before TB, PA, or any retailer has even unpacked, stocked, picked and reshipped. Plus, I'd rather give the extra margin on the product to the guys that made it than a company that resells it.

I just stumbled on this thread and ran into the same problem. I ordered from PA and it looked like they had them in only to get a call from them saying that it was not in and am looking at 2-3 weeks! Why don't they just show that it is out of stock before you order it? It has been about 4 weeks from this last email, have you guys gotten yours yet?

took me almost 2 months from Marine depot. Neptune is running out of them and has to have them built.

jaymoney2- was that for the Apex, or Apex Lite?

I contacted Neptune Sys via email and they said that they have been waiting for some parts for two weeks now and cannot build them until they come in. Of course they could not give me any time frame. This is for the Apex Lite.

I bought the last Apex Lite marine depot had in stock last week. Talk about luck! I had to call and verify that it wasn't actually back ordered.
